We are committed to doing all we can to respect the core principles of accessibility legislation: dignity, independence, integration and equal opportunity. We will incorporate these principles into our policies, procedures, training and best practices. Our aim is that people across Ontario can access our services and information, regardless of their abilities or disabilities.
Ensuring our operations are accessible and barrier-free is a shared effort. As an organization, we are dedicated to working with the people of Ontario to make accessibility for everyone a reality.

Accessibility of This Website
We have been releasing regular updates to the Ontario Health website as we work through a period of transition. This includes consolidating and winding down the websites of 23 former health agencies and organizations that now make up Ontario Health. We continue to make accessibility improvements as new content and features are added.
We aim to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.0 Level AA at a minimum. We test new features, functions and web pages against WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
- We regularly conduct automated and manual testing across the website, including testing new content, features and functions as they are added.
- We use Axe DevTools for automated testing, manual keyboard testing, and screen reader testing with NVDA or VoiceOver.
- Automated testing of PDF files is done with CommonLook PDF and/or PAC 2024. Selected files are also spot-checked manually.
The Ontario Health website is responsive and accessible on desktop, tablet and mobile devices. For the best experience, we recommend using the latest versions of the following browsers: Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari.
Accessibility Features
Some of the features we have built into our website to make it easier to navigate for people with disabilities include the following:
- Most content is accessible by keyboard only or by using assistive technology such as screen readers.
- A skip link is provided above the header for people navigating with a keyboard or assistive technology.
- All informative images have text descriptions (alternative text and/or long descriptions) for those who cannot access the image.
- Structured headings provide an overview of the site and help people navigate to the right section.
- Font size, white space and colour contrast improve readability.
- Button size exceeds the minimum required by AODA.
- Visual indicators show the status of clickable elements like links and buttons.
- The website appearance or layout can be customized based on individual preferences by changing browser settings.
Known Limitations and Plans for Remediation
Some content on our website is not yet fully accessible. For example, certain video content may not include direct access to transcripts within the website. Where transcripts are available, we provide links or alternative means of access.
In addition, some PDF documents may not yet meet accessibility standards because we are migrating a large amount of legacy content from multiple organizations. While we are actively working to fill these accessibility gaps, we also are keeping important information available on our website.
Our goal is to make all PDFs accessible – or provide accessible alternatives – by March 31, 2028. In the meantime, we can provide information in an alternative format upon request.
Send Feedback or Make a Request

Please let us know if you encounter a barrier on our website or if you need information in an alternative format. If we cannot provide an accessible version, we will let you know why and provide a summary of the information.
