Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Anti-Racism

A high-quality health care system starts with a culture that promotes equity and reduces disparities. Our Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Anti-Racism team aims to reduce health inequities in all areas of our work so we can address racism and discrimination across the health care system.

Our Work

Developing an equitable organizational culture will help us contribute to better health for the communities we serve. We have created a framework for a culture focused on equity, inclusion, diversity and anti-racism. The framework helps make sure our work supports better health for everyone in Ontario.

Our report looking at COVID-19 data based on race found that the impact of COVID-19 in Ontario has been highly racialized. In the report, we make several recommendations to reduce these inequities in health care.

A Black Health Plan, now in development, will reflect the distinct experiences, history and health care needs of Black people in Ontario.

An important part of our work to reduce health inequities is engaging and partnering with the communities we serve. In this way, we ensure the steps we take are informed by the voice of experience and addressed through partnership.
