Ontario Health welcomes Dr. Clare Liddy to new role of Digital Clinical Lead

Dr. Clare Liddy has joined Ontario Health as a Digital Clinical Lead and will be co-leading the ‘Patients Before Paperwork’ (Pb4P) initiative alongside Colleen McDuffe, Vice President, Customer Experience and Business Integration.

Pb4P is focused on leveraging digital health solutions to modernize inter-system communications, reducing the administrative burden felt by health care providers and enhancing health system coordination across the province. To inform planning efforts, Dr. Liddy will also be spearheading engagement activities with clinicians to ensure their needs are understood and incorporated into the initiative.

This work contributes to the province’s ‘Digital First for Health’ strategy and is connected to its commitment to ‘Axe the Fax’, as outlined in the ‘Your Health’ Plan released earlier this year.

Bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the Pb4P initiative, Dr. Liddy is an internationally recognized researcher and academic leader. She is also a proud family physician and practices within the Ottawa Hospital’s Academic Family Health Team.

At the University of Ottawa, Dr. Liddy is the Chair of the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Family Medicine and holds full professor rank. In 2020, she was also named as the University of Ottawa Research Chair in eConsult and Primary Health Care Delivery.

Dr. Liddy has received more than $35 million in grant funding to support her research, including $10 million as a principal/nominated principal investigator. Collectively, Dr. Liddy has published over 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at over 450 international, national and provincial conferences.

For her work in research and program implementation, Dr. Liddy has received awards like the Leading Practice Award from the Health Standards Organization (2020), the Future Innovation Award from the Change Foundation (2020), and the Canadian Family Physician Researcher of the Year Awards from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (2019).

We’re thrilled to have Dr. Liddy onboard at Ontario Health to support and guide us as we work alongside our partners to usher in a new era of connected digital health solutions that create impact across the health system and deliver tangible benefits to both health care providers and patients.
