The purpose of this dataset is to securely store wait times information for five areas of care: cataract surgery, cancer surgery, cardiac surgery, hip and knee replacement surgery, and MRI/CT scans for all adult and pediatric patients. Wait time is calculated from the time a decision is made to treat a patient to the time of treatment of the patient.

PHI is required to monitor wait times for surgical and diagnostic services across the province to support Ontario's wait time strategy and to identify areas where additional resources may be required to improve access to care.
