Position summary
Ontario Health is seeking expressions of interest from practicing family physicians or primary care nurse practitioners in Ontario for the position of Provincial Primary Care Clinical Lead. This is a unique opportunity to provide strategic leadership to the evolution of the Ontario Primary Care system. This opportunity is open to all qualified candidates.

Accountabilities
The key responsibilities of this role are:
- Advising on gaps in care and issues of concern to primary care clinicians as they relate to Ontario Health priorities
- Providing expert clinical and practical advice regarding the development and implementation of strategies for the Provincial Primary Care Program initiatives, ensuring relevance and usefulness for primary care clinicians
- Chairing relevant tables, committees, and CoPs, such as the Ontario Health Primary Care Clinical Leadership Table
- Collaborating with, and providing support to, the Regional Primary Care Clinical Leads
- Supporting the implementation of the Primary Care Action Team’s Plan
- Supporting the development of primary care engagement strategies for the Ontario Health Teams (OHTs)
- Ensuring the overall success of the program by developing and building relationships with partners and stakeholders, both internal and external to Ontario Health
- Establishing and maintaining effective links with the primary care community as well as other relevant clinical communities on behalf of Ontario Health
- Engaging with other provincial clinical leads across OH to deliver on cross-functional goals
- Identifying opportunities for integration and alignment of strategies and activities within Ontario Health, and externally with other health care organizations
Qualifications
- Either a practicing family physician in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the College of Family Physicians of Canada or a practicing primary care nurse practitioner in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- A minimum of ten years of clinical experience in primary care
- A minimum of five years of experience in a senior leadership role focused on provincial and/or regional system planning, design, and quality improvement
- In-depth understanding of Ontario's health care system, with a particular focus on the challenges and issues facing primary care in Ontario
- Expert knowledge of current best practices, healthcare literature, and evidence-based guidelines, as it pertains to primary care generally
- Knowledge of health system performance measurement and management approaches, and how this can be used as a tool to promote change
- Aptitude for system thinking and ability to analyse information for sound decision making
- Excellent communication skills with mature leadership experience in establishing strong relationships and building consensus with partners
- Demonstrated commitment to equitable and person-centred care, as well as public accountability
- Demonstrated experience in implementation of large-scale change in the health sector
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders to reach consensus
