Clinical Viewer Consolidation

We are consolidating three clinical viewers into one provincial clinical viewer to improve consistency and access to patients’ health information for health care providers across the province.

Three existing clinical viewers share a common purpose of providing health care providers with real-time access to patient health information to facilitate the delivery of clinical care:

  • ConnectingOntario ClinicalViewer, operated by Ontario Health
  • ClinicalConnect, operated by Hamilton Health Sciences
  • electronic Child Health Network, operated by SickKids

The Challenge

Health care providers access a specific viewer, based on their location, through their hospital’s website or by launching it from within their hospital information system or electronic medical record. Because each clinical viewer is unique, the data and user experience differ from viewer to viewer. We want to provide health care providers a more consistent way to share information and access their patients’ electronic health records.

The Solution: Clinical Viewer Consolidation

Benefits of consolidating clinical viewers

  • Provides a single point of access for province-wide patient information
  • Eliminates duplication of provincial data
  • Improves operational efficiencies
  • Reduces operational costs

Request Access to Current Clinical Viewers

While we work towards the future state of one consolidated clinical viewer, health care organizations can still request access to one of the current clinical viewers by visiting these links:
