Position summary
Ontario Health (OH) is seeking expressions of interest from qualified candidates for the position of Medical Physics Clinical Quality Lead, Radiation Treatment Program. The Medical Physics Clinical Quality Lead will provide leadership and advise on quality improvement initiatives and efforts in a Communities of Practice (COP) environment, in particular leading the widespread implementation of clinical practice guidelines for current and emerging care practices as well as contribute to the development of quality indicators. This opportunity is open to all qualified candidates.

Accountabilities
The key responsibilities of this position are:
- Provide leadership and direction to the Radiation Treatment Program (RTP) on quality improvement initiatives and efforts, including the development/ implementation/maintenance of clinical and organizational guidelines, and other quality indicators
- Establish and maintain effective links with relevant clinical communities and other key stakeholders across the province to influence participation in quality initiatives and the implementation of guidelines
- Play a key role in setting annual and strategic priorities for quality projects and ensuring their success/results
- Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement among colleagues in the Regional Cancer Programs
- Advise on aspects related to technology implementation including patient safety and quality
- Provide advice on the integration of quality improvement and Quality Based Procedure (QBP) funding for radiation treatment in the province
- Collaborate and partner with OH-CCO programs (i.e. regional programs, Program in Evidence Based Care, Cancer Leads and Disease Site Groups etc., as appropriate) to develop guidelines and support regional implementation
- Participate in inter-regional best-practice information sharing with respect to quality, safety, efficiency and access related to current technologies and clinical advances
- Serve as a mentor and educator to RTP staff
- Conduct proactive scanning of the environment for issues that will have an impact on quality and access to services in Ontario
- Participate in inter-regional best-practice information sharing with respect to quality, safety, efficiency and access related to current technologies and clinical advances
- Liaise with other relevant organizations/entities to promote learning from and sharing of our work
- Attend Clinical Quality Lead team meetings and Provincial Program Committee meetings, as well as other OH-CCO related committees or panels as needed
- Act as a RTP spokesperson for quality initiatives as appropriate
Qualifications
- A radiation physicist currently practicing in Ontario
- Enthusiasm for, and commitment to, quality improvement in cancer care at the system level
- Recognized as an opinion leader within the physicist community
- Significant training and expertise in medical (radiation) physics
- In-depth knowledge of clinical, administrative and system issues, as well as provincial knowledge transfer and exchange methods
- Aptitude for systems thinking, ability to analyze information and to make sound decisions
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build consensus
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Demonstrated commitment to patient focused care and public accountability
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- A minimum of 7 years of radiation physics experience
- Demonstrated interest in quality initiatives related to the practice of radiation physics
