Through the Health Innovation Pathway, Ontario Health launched a time-limited technology project to further understand the benefits of adopting non-invasive abdominal wall surgical support devices for open abdominal surgery in Ontario.

The Health Innovation Pathway funding is intended for the evaluation of the clinical utility and economic impact of the technology across Ontario to improve patient and provider experience, while supporting health service providers readiness for innovation adoption.
Objectives:
- Generate evidence to close the gap related to the effectiveness and economic impact of using an innovative non-invasive abdominal wall surgical support device for open abdominal surgery, compared with standard of care
- Identify requirements for procurement and implementation of the technology (e.g. technology deployment parameters, training needs, infrastructure and cross-sector collaboration)
